Jon's Top Pick Review
"While these are generally referred to as "entry-level" bows, they are more than capable of ethically harvesting big game. With some upgraded accessories down the road, they can hold their own against the accuracy of many higher tier bows.
I think single cam bows like the Species make an ideal choice for someone starting out. Many beginner archers like to start at a lower draw weight and work their way up. Due to the simplicity of the single cam design these adjustments can be made without any concern using just an allen wrench. You can easily adjust the draw weight of these bows without creating issues with cam timing specific to dual and hybrid cams systems. Minor errors in adjustment of a dual or hybrid cam can cause timing issues and the bow will not shoot to its full potential. Like many entry-level bows the Species can be easily adjusted in draw length using only an allen key. So you may measure a certain length but after some shooting you may want to adjust your draw length for a more tailored fit."
